Hancock, MI (July 6, 2012) – Entrepreneur Support Center (ESC), a collaboration between MTEC SmartZone and Finlandia University, was selected for an international economic development award at the Computerworld Laureate Honors Program on June 4, 2012, in Washington D.C.
MTEC SmartZone partnered with Finlandia University to open ESC with a grant from Michigan Economic Development Corporation. ESC has been in operation since May 2011.
Ann Arbor, Michigan ( May 3, 2012) – In March, local technology start-up, T&T Technology LLC, journeyed to Ann Arbor to participate in a two-day, intensive business boot camp for entrepreneurs.
T&T owners, Bill & Kay Tislar, traveled with MTEC SmartZone CEO Marilyn Clark and another local entrepreneur, to MTEC SmartZone’s sister incubator in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to attend the Ann Arbor Spark Entrepreneur Boot Camp.
HOUGHTON, Michigan (May 1, 2012) – Nine student-entrepreneurial teams from Michigan Technological University competed against 21 Central Michigan teams for $65,000 in prizes, at a recent business plan competition in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Several Michigan Tech students came home winners, and were presented certificates of achievement by event sponsor, MTEC SmartZone.
Ann Arbor, Michigan (April 30, 2012) – Adam Gibson, a young, local entrepreneur, at first glance looks like the video-gamer kid next door. While he is exactly that, Adam, 22, is also the creative force behind an Internet-based promotional tracking tool developed for marketing and advertising agencies. He also devised algorithms for financial trading, creating a program now used by brokerage firms in New York City. Adam has many other great ideas, but he’s not sure where to go next.

Houghton marked the final stop of the tour, which spanned five days and 15 stops throughout Michigan.
