HOUGHTON, Michigan (April 9, 2012) – Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will conclude its 2012, 15-stop statewide tour in Houghton on Wednesday, April 25, at Michigan Technological University Advanced Technology’s Development Center (ATDC). Entrepreneurs and high-growth-potential businesses are invited to learn how to access 30 business support programs through MEDC, which dedicates $25 million each year to help build high-growth-potential companies through programs and venture capital.
The program in Houghton will begin at 8 a.m. with an expo to showcase successful entrepreneurs and participants from the Entrepreneur Support Center. At 8:30, three of the businesses will be honored with awards to recognize their accomplishments, including Business of the Year, Innovative Product of the Year and Student Start-up of the Year. The awards are determined by service providers who worked with the businesses during their start-up phase. At 9 a.m., MEDC will conclude the event with a detailed review of available support programs and service providers funded by the State of Michigan.
